Scary Foods

There is so much written about foods which are unhealthy, so I need not repeat it all here. However, here are just a few to give you a perspective:

Pepperidge Farms Pot Pies.  It says 510 calories, but that's for 1/2 a pie, and most eat the whole thing. Add the 31 grams of fat, and this is way over a day's allotment.

Burger King Quad Stacker. With 4 hamburger patties, 4 slices of cheese, 8 strips of bacon, sauce and a bun, its 1000 calories, over a day of sodium (1800 mg), and 2 days worth of fat (33 grams)! (Translate: 5 hours of dancing.)

McDonald's Chicken Select sounds healthy, but they are the same as Chicken McNuggets:  630 calories and 11 grams of fat. That's the same as the Big Mac, but the burger has 1010 mg of sodium, and the chicken has 1550 mg!

Burger King Fries. One king-size order has 600 calories and 3/4 of the daily maximum in fats. (Translate: one hour of tennis.)

Cheesecake Factory Cheesecake. The low-carb cheesecake has the same calories as the regular, 610. That's the same as an 8 oz. prime rib.

Campbell's Red & White Label Soups. Salt galore here. Half a can is more than half the daily salt quota.  Better brands are Healthy Choice and Campbell's Healthy Request.

Dove, Ben & Jerry's, and Haagen-Dazs. Half a cup

(which is less than 1/2 a pint, that little special carton!) has

300 calories and 13 grams of fat.

Swoops. Each six-pack has 200 calories, 8 grams of fat, and over 4 tsps. of sugar.  (Translate: 20 mins. of bike riding.)

Mrs. Fields Cookies. One cookie has 300 calories and as much fat as a 12 oz. sirloin!  Add 6 tsps. of sugar, and that's one nasty cookie. (Translate: 40 mins. on a stair machine.)

Mint Chip Dazzler at Haagen-Dazs has 1270 calories and 38 grams of fat--two day's worth! One cup is the same as a T-Bone steak dinner with salad, baked potato, and sour cream.

Starbucks Venti Caffe Mocha. Add whipped cream and it's like a Quarter Pounder with Cheese in a cup:  490 calories and 16 grams of fat!  (Try it without the whipped cream, substitute nonfat milk, and reduce the size to a tall: 170 calories and no fat!) (Translate: 40 mins. of swimming.)

Starbucks Frappucino. Add whipped cream and it's like a milkshake:  770 calories and 19 grams of fat!  It's the equivalent of a Pizza Hut Personal Pan Pizza!

Krispy Kreme Donuts. Sugar-coated white flour friend in vegetable shortening with partially hydrogenated oil.  The original has 3 grams of saturated fat and 3 1/2 grams of trans fat.  Kreme-filled raised this to 5 grams of saturated fats and 5 grams of trans fat.  Remember, the American Heart Assoc. recommends only 2 grams of trans fat the entire day!  Ah, but wait!  While the donut has 200 calories, a respectably Dunkin' Donuts corn muffin has 510 calories! Ruby Tuesday Chocolate Tallcake. Clearly grotesque indulgence, this carries 21 grams of fat and 605 calories, over 1/4 of your day!
Uno deep-dish individual pizza. An incredible 2070 calories and 159 grams of fat.  This is all you can eat today. Betty Crocker Warm Delights. Who knew that we could make a microwavable pouch of cake mix and fudge, thick non-recyclable plastic surrounded by cardboard. In three minutes, you, too can have 400 calories of sugar, white flour, and oils:  2 grams of trans fat, 3-6 grams of saturated fat, and 10 tsp. of sugar!
